ViaFabricPlus Forge Support: Fabric Requirement Explained
Clarify ViaFabricPlus Forge searches, the official Fabric-only requirement, and why Forge or NeoForge should not be treated as supported ViaFabricPlus loaders. This guide focuses on the practical distinction between the modern supported client, the target multiplayer server protocol and the file type you are actually installing.
Is there an official ViaFabricPlus Forge version?
The official ViaFabricPlus project documentation says the mod runs only on Fabric and that there will not be a Forge or NeoForge version. That statement should take priority over ambiguous search snippets or category metadata.
Why “ViaFabricPlus Forge” gets searched
Players often search the name of a mod together with the loader they already use. That search intent does not prove the loader is supported. In this case, ViaFabricPlus is a Fabric client mod.
Can a Forge server still be joined?
The server software stack and the client mod loader are separate questions. ViaFabricPlus runs on your Fabric client. Whether a particular multiplayer server is reachable depends on its protocol, network stack, rules and compatibility; the server does not need to run ViaFabricPlus itself.
Do not rename or convert mod files
Changing a file name or extension cannot convert a Fabric mod into a Forge or NeoForge mod. Loaders use different APIs and runtime expectations, so unsupported conversion shortcuts are not a valid installation method.
Practical option for users
If ViaFabricPlus is required for your cross-version multiplayer workflow, prepare a supported Fabric client profile for it. Keep any separate Forge setup isolated so each profile has the correct loader-specific mods.
